These attractive and practical Hand-Carved Wood Ladles are crafted with care from reclaimed wood and sealed with food-safe tung oil, guaranteeing durability against environmental conditions. Available in Macawood or Laurelwood, they are ideal for serving soups, stews, and broths. Handmade and Fair Trade certified.
Care Instructions: Hand-wash with soap and warm water. Apply food grade oil such as tung oil or mineral oil to dry utensils periodically to maintain moisture, color and longevity.
Handcrafted by Diego, a local carpenter who lives in a small town on the coast of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. He, his wife Raquel, and their nephew Pedro hand-carve beautiful wood kitchen servers from reclaimed wood for sustainable, living wage.
The crafts(wo)manship of the hand carved wood ladle is unparalleled. I purchased this as a gift for a friend of mine who is from Guatemala and she said the piece took her back to when she was a child.
I often serve dishes requiring a ladle for serving. In the past, the only ones I've had were usable, but really too large for a smaller serving bowl. This ladle is not only perfectly sized, but is also well made and extremely attractive.
The ladle is beautifully crafted.
Your purchase directly supports marginalized artisans in Guatemala. Most, who are women, live in high crime urban areas. Proceeds from all sales directly support the funding of UPAVIM's community K-6 School. We are a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation.
