UPAVIM Crafts is a social enterprise that was founded in 1991 by a group of women from the impoverished community of La Esperanza in Guatemala City. Their goal was to create economic opportunities for women in their community and to help break the cycle of poverty. Today, UPAVIM Crafts is a thriving business that employs over 120 women, providing them with fair wages, safe working conditions, and access to education and healthcare.
Our artisans are not only skilled weavers, knitters, and sewers, but they are also super moms, caregivers, and community leaders. They work hard every day to support their families and to make a positive impact in their community. Their determination and resilience in the face of adversity is truly remarkable and an inspiration to us all.
At UPAVIM Crafts, we believe that empowering women is key to creating a more just and equitable world. We are proud to work with our artisan partners to help them achieve their full potential and to promote gender equality. By purchasing a handcrafted product from UPAVIM Crafts, you are not only getting a beautiful and unique item, but you are also supporting women's economic empowerment and sustainable development.
On this International Women's Day, we celebrate the UPAVIMAS and all the amazing women who are working hard to make a difference in the world. We invite you to learn more about our mission, our artisans, and our impact by visiting our website at upavimcrafts.org.
Together, we can create a better world for all women and girls. Happy International Women's Day! #internationalwomensday
