Empowering Women, Transforming Lives: Reyna's Journey with UPAVIM

In the heart of Guatemala City, an inspiring tale of resilience and empowerment unfolds through the story of Reyna, a dedicated member of the UPAVIM community for the past 25 years. Reyna's journey, woven in with her commitment to education and community, reflects the transformative impact that UPAVIM has had on the lives of women like her.

For Reyna, UPAVIM has been more than just a workplace; it has been a nurturing ground where she has flourished into a woman and a mother. Joining UPAVIM at the tender age of 17, Reyna embarked on a journey that not only provided financial stability for her family but also served as a catalyst for personal development.

Working at UPAVIM has been Reyna's lifeline, ensuring that she can put food on the table for her family. The impact of her employment extends beyond financial support; it has become a source of empowerment, enabling her to navigate the challenges of life with resilience.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of Reyna's role at UPAVIM lies in her interaction with children. The joy she finds in working with the younger generation is palpable. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world seemed to come to a standstill, UPAVIM continued to be a beacon of hope for Reyna.

As the pandemic forced the closure of classrooms, leaving Reyna's familiar space empty, UPAVIM stepped up to ensure that the support and learning didn't stop. Reyna was paid to assist children through virtual platforms, proof of UPAVIM's commitment to both its employees and the community.

UPAVIM's tutoring center, where Reyna has dedicated two decades of her life, stands as a safe haven for local children. "The UPAVIM tutoring center is a safe place where children in the community can go after school to play in a learning environment or get extra help with their studies," explains Reyna in an interview.

Reyna's journey with UPAVIM exemplifies the organization's dedication to empowering women, transforming lives, and fostering a sense of community resilience. As we celebrate her 25 years of dedication, we recognize the ripple effect of positive change that resonates not only within her family but throughout the entire UPAVIM community.
