Antigua Tour: Day 7 (March 2, 2024):
As we approach the final stretch of the tour, we leave the beautiful Lake Atitlan region, and head for Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On our way we stop at Finca La Azotea, a coffee farm at 5000 ft. They grow coffee under shade trees. After the coffee tour, we had lunch with Greg Norman, a UCDF board member who lives in Guatemala, and discussed Guatemala history and politics.
Next we arrive in Antigua and spend a bustling afternoon exploring the central market. It’s like the Guatemalan Amazon, you can find anything you’d like. At night we were able to witness another Lent procession through the central plaza in Antigua. This attracted thousands of people and is one of the largest holiday/events in Antigua.
Day 8 (March 3, 2024):
On this final full day of our Guatemala tour, we awaken to another beautiful day in Antigua where we traveled the streets shopping, visited the lookout, and soaked in the pure Guatemalan culture before the long travel home.
